Instructions for Reviewers
Peer Review Process:
All submissions to JCEC undergo a peer review by a reviewer appropriate to the work (research, creative, and interview).
1) Managing Editors make an initial review to determine whether the submission fits JCEC’s aims and scope. If it does…
2) …an Associate Editor sends the work to at least two reviewers who have been selected based on their submission-relevant expertise.
3) Once reviewed:
– interview submissions may receive suggestions on clarity, flow, length and accompanying images.
– creative submissions will be addressed based on the submission type. For those that are not modifiable, reviewers will suggest they be accepted or rejected.
– In cases where modifications may be possible, suggestions will be provided if the creator would like to revise and resubmit.
For any type of submission, there are some instances when additional reviews are sought.
4) When submissions are accepted for publication, authors are asked to work with the JCEC on issues such as intellectual property, citations, grammar, formatting, copyediting, etc.
5) Managing Editors make final decisions on manuscripts based on:
– Contributing ideas should be acknowledged or cited, as appropriate. Use of ChatGPT or any other AI prose or image generator must also be clearly acknowledged.
– Print and video interviews are welcomed. Interviews should be submitted in a Q & A format that showcases the voices of the interviewer and interviewee. Transcripts are needed for interviews and should be reviewed for accuracy before submitting.
